(Philadelphia, PA) -- A Philadelphia abortion doctor convicted of first-degree murder will not face the death penalty. Kermit Gosnell agreed today to a pair of consecutive life sentences. It was part of an agreement not to file an appeal in the case to get prosecutors to drop the death penalty. Gosnell was convicted on three murder charges in connection with the death of three babies born alive during late-term abortion procedures.
