Lynchburg Veterans Day Parade cancelled for November

There will not be a Veterans Day Parade held in Lynchburg this year.

The Lynchburg Area Veterans Council says it's now focusing more on directly helping veterans, specifically working to reduce the number of homeless veterans in the area.

Michael Brady, the outreach coordinator for LAVC, says the number of homeless veterans is likely to increase over the next two or three years as incarcerated veterans are released with no place to go.

Brady says the council will be focusing on adding around 200 units of affordable housing over the next few years.
