Former SRO pleads guilty to inappropriate relationship with student

A former Bedford County school resource officer (SRO) has pleaded guilty after being charged with having an inappropriate relationship with a student.

Virginia State Police began their investigation into complaints made against Cpl. Daniel Clark, the SRO at Liberty High School, in November 2018.

Within an hour of getting the complaint, the sheriff's office said Clark was placed on administrative leave with pay.

He then resigned from the sheriff's office.

After state police wrapped up their investigation, they presented their findings to Andrew Nester, the special prosecutor in the case, who determined there was enough evidence to bring criminal charges against Clark.
