Covington Police Officer Buys Presents For Girl After Party Gets Canceled

COVINGTON, Va. (WSET) -- A police officer decided to make a young girl's birthday special after her party was canceled amid the coronavirus outbreak.

The Covington Police Department said that while Officer Campbell was doing a business check at Walmart Saturday morning, she came across a mother who told her it was her daughter Maria's birthday.

The mother told the officer that Maria is fascinated with police officers.

Maria had a party planned but due to the coronavirus outbreak, the party had to be canceled.

Officer Campbell decided to buy Maria some presents and a card.

Campbell gathered some local law enforcement officers from the Covington Police Department and Virginia State Police to go and visit with Maria.

They delivered her presents and spent some time with her.

Maria and her family were extremely happy and appreciative of the gesture.
