VDH Daily Update: 3,645 Coronavirus Cases in Va. With 75 Deaths

RICHMOND, Va. (WSET) -- The number of coronavirus cases and deaths in Virginia continues to rise.

The latest data shown by the Virginia Department of Health show that cases of the virus have reached 3,645 as of Wednesday, April 8.

The Virginia Department of Health says that there are now 3,645 total cases and 615 people have been hospitalized.

The VDH reports 75 total deaths statewide. This includes two deaths from the Alleghany Health District, a man from the Farmville area and a man in the Mount Rogers Health District.

Centra Health said there have been 15 positive coronavirus test results for patients across their service area over the weekend.

President and CEO Dr. Andy Mueller said Lynchburg General Hospital currently has 13 patients who are positive.

Their conditions range from stable to critical and vary in ages. He said there have been no deaths due to COVID-19.
