Lynchburg Firefighters Honored for Saving Two Girls from Apartment Fire

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) -- Lynchburg Firefighters were presented with certificates of valor for their bravely in rescuing two people from the James Crossing Apartment fire on April 13.

The rescues were of two young girls trapped in the burning building.

Firefighters forced their way into the apartment above the one on fire and helped the girls escape through the window and onto a ladder.

Mayor Treney Tweedy passed out the awards at the City Council meeting on Monday.

"You exemplify the bravery and the professionalism and the commitment to serving our community," says Mayor Tweedy.
