Lynchburg Police Looking for Woman with Alzheimer's

UPDATE:

An elderly Lynchburg woman missing since last night has been found safe.

After nearly 18 hours of searching by several area police and fire departments and K-9 unites, Beatrice Reese Spencer, 74, of Lynchburg, was located near the intersection of Hollins and Polk Streets at approximately 5:45 p.m. on June 21, 2021.

She was transported to Lynchburg General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Virginia State Police have now issued a statewide Silver Alert for missing 74-year-old Beatrice Reese Spencer of Lynchburg.

Spencer was last seen at her home on Floyd St. in Lynchburg Sunday evening. She was later spotted walking down 5th St.

Family members say Spencer has been showing early signs of dementia and may be confused.

The Lynchburg Police Department is looking for a woman with Alzheimer’s.

Just before 1:30 a.m. on June 21, police tweeted that they were looking for Beatrice Reese Spencer.

She is 74-years-old, has brown eyes, weighs 130 lbs., and is 5’3.”

She was last seen in the 400-block of Floyd St. at 9:30 Sunday night.
