One case of Omicron variant detected in West Virginia

State health leaders announced the detection of the first Omicron variant case in West Virginia on Thursday.

Coronavirus czar Dr. Clay Marsh made the announcement live during the governor’s news conference Thursday morning. Marsh said the announcement came immediately following notification from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

No information was provided on where in the state the variant was detected.
