Suspect in Custody After Fatal Downtown Blacksburg Shooting

BLACKSBURG, Va. (WSET) — After a shooting in Downtown Blacksburg that left one person dead and multiple people injured, police say a suspect is now in custody.

The Blacksburg Police Dept. says 24-year-old Jamel D. Flint, of Roanoke was taken into custody without incident.

Flint was wanted for murder in the first degree for the homicide of 18-year-old Isiah O. Robinson of Roanoke, according to police.

Roanoke City Schools says Robinson was a student at Patrick Henry High School.

Officials say Flint was also wanted on four counts of attempted murder in the first degree and one count of use of a firearm while committing or attempting to commit murder for the remaining four victims.

According to Blacksburg police, gunshots were reported at the Melody Hookah Lounge in the 100 block of North Main Street around 11:53 pm on Friday night.
