Earlier this month, a family in Appomattox lost everything in a house fire with the Appomattox Volunteer Fire Department saying that the home was a total loss.
Since then, members of the community came together to offer support to the family affected by the devastating fire.
The Appomattox Community and Disaster Relief Organization has set up a donation page online for the family.
"We are very happy with the amount of donations collected to help the fire victims from the Stonewall area," said Tom Adams, the chairman of ACDRO.
"The items collected up to this point have been turned over to the family as well as the $1,000 raised through the generous support of our Appomattox neighbors," Adams added.
ACDRO will be collecting final donations of personal items, furniture, clothing, and money at their upcoming meeting on Thursday, November 3 at 7:00 pm at the New Geneva Christian Education Center, 222 Harrell St., in downtown Appomattox.
Anyone who would like to can stop by and drop items off.
However, an even greater need right now is a 3-bedroom apartment for the family.
